Case reference FOI2026/00811
Received 10 July 2026
Published 18 August 2026
Request
In line with the principles of the Pan-London Fire Safety Protocol, which encourages collaboration and information sharing between London Fire Brigade and local authorities to improve resident safety, we would be grateful if you could provide any available anonymised data relating to fire incidents within Croydon. Specifically, we are interested in the past 2 - 3 years of data (or more) containing: * The recorded causes of fire (e.g. smoking materials, cigarette lighters, batteries, cooking-related incidents, electrical faults, candles, etc.). * The number of incidents associated with each cause. * A breakdown of those incidents between: * Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs) * Single-family dwellings/private houses and flats We are not requesting any personal data, addresses, occupant details, or other identifying information. Aggregated statistical information would be sufficient for our purposes. The intention is to use this information to identify common fire trends within the borough and help target prevention, engagement, and enforcement activity more effectively within the private residential sector.
