Dear FOI officer, Could you please tell me the following information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000: 1. The number of wildfires dealt with by your department each year for the past 5 years. Please use the most recent annual periods or parts of year. a. Please note, the National Fire Chiefs Council recommends using the following definition: “Any uncontrolled vegetation fire where a decision or action is needed about its suppression”. It should “present a serious threat to life, environment, property and infrastructure.” Please use this definition when providing the information. If you use a different definition, please include your definition in the document. b. If you do not use a definition, please include fires affecting the below categories: i. Grass Forest Heathland/Moorland Other outdoors (including land) 2. Please also provide details of how long each wildfire lasted in days, minutes, hours where possible. 3. Of these wildfires, please outline how many were found to be caused by human actions. a. Please also outline how many wildfires were found to be caused by 1) accidental ignition (e.g. smouldering campfires, bbqs, and open fires), and 2) arson.
